The Hypogeums
Excursion:
The following itinerary
begins with hypogeums, or underground passageways, among the columns of the temples and
the Church of San Nicola and towards the Valley of the Temples.

| This excursion goes to the
underground passageways dug by man that were used for the city’s water system in 500
A.D. These hypogeums guarantee safety, and the excursion is kept as simple as possible for
beginners. This plan gives an idea as to how brilliant the engineers of this time were.
The visit will be conducted by an Agrigentinian group of
spelaeologists. A safety helmet will be provided. Casual wear is advised. |

Program:
1. Visit at "Ameilia 1", "Amelia 2", and
"Amelia 3" hypogeums
2. Walk along the Temple of Vulcan and arrival at "Cane
Morto" hypogeum
3. Return
The excursion lasts three hours.
